Mundan
Posted by Shivanshi on July 9, 2008It is our family tradition to get the hair saved once. We call it mundan. They say it helps in better growth of the hair. We originally wanted to have this done in Trayambakeshwar Temple at Nashik. However, the prists refused to carry out the ceremony – They say it applies only to boys.
We then decided for Balaji temple near Pune. Well its one of the most magnificent replica of the original Balaji temple. The two are associated also. All hairs shaved in the temple premises are finally collected and sent to Tirupti. Its a wonderful place to visit.
All said and done; I certainly hated to part with my lovely hairs. But I didn’t cry.

Hi,
Read ur update about the Mundan at Balaji Temple near Pune.
I have a 8 months old son & am planning to get his Mundan done at this temple. But I dont know if they do it there in the first place & even if they do it will they help with my son’s Munadan,
I also wanted to check with you whether do we need to take permission or any pre Mundan preparations or anything that needs to be done before you visit the temple???
Or is it that we can directly go there without any prior notice or information to them & get the Mundan done.
